Owner and Head Instructor Sifu Brad Ryan
| Mr. Brad Ryan is the owner of MMA-Mengs Martial Arts of Houston and a full-time martial arts instructor.
He is a certified instructor thru the International Green Dragon White Tiger Association. This is the International Association thru Meng's Martial Arts. It was within this education that the Shaolin Wing Chun Kung Fu and the four ranges of combat were taught. Covering long kicking, long striking, trapping/clinching and grappling standing and on the ground. Also taught was teaching methods, training methods, history, philosophy and business understanding.

Sifu Ryan is a 7th level Senior Instructor of Ip Man Wing Chun certified by the Ving Tsun Athletic Association in Hong Kong, having participated in the VTAA Senior Instructor Certification Program hosted at the VTM in October 1998(only 1 in 44 worldwide)Sifu Ryan is also certified by the Ving Tsun Museum in the Yipman system.
In his professional background, Sifu Ryan was a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and has over 2 years of intensive schooling in health and fitness related courses. Between 1997 and 2000, Sifu Ryan ran a successful personal-training/coaching business in Rochester, N.Y. After relocating to Texas, Sifu Ryan stayed in the Heath and Fitness Industry for a few years before going full time into martial arts as a career.
In March 2008 Sifu Ryan also became licensed to teach the national known Kid Escape Anti-Abduction course
He also is currently a second degree Black Sash in the Ving Tsun Museum grading curriculum under the guidance of his Sifu, Master Benny Meng. He also was also accepted as a Disciple under Master Meng on September 18, 2004. He was accepted as a 10th Generation Disciple in the Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun Kung Fu system on the same day under Master Meng, granted by Grand Master Gee.
Sifu Ryan's history in martial arts started in 1992 under Sifu Steve Lee Swift of the Ip Man Wing Chun lineage. After several years of full time training, starting in 1993, Sifu Swift left Rochester, which precipitated Sifu Ryan starting a club of his own. In 1994 and 1995 Sifu Ryan had an opportunity to meet Grandmasters Ip Chun and Ip Ching, the direct sons of the late Grand Master Ip Man, and Master Samuel Kwok. With exposure to other families of Wing Chun, Sifu Ryan's craving for a deeper understanding of martial arts was whetted and he sought out deeper instruction.
In studying with Master Benny Meng, Sifu Ryan found the guidance he had been seeking. Training with Master Meng brought the details, principles, concepts, and teaching methods of Sifu Ryan into sharper relief. During this period of learning, Sifu Ryan relocated from Rochester, New York, to Houston, Texas. After he was settled in his new location, his training resumed.
While continuing to work through the Ip Man system under Master Meng, Sifu Ryan was given the opportunity to investigate and study Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun. Immediately identifying with the Hung Fa Yi system, Sifu Brad began his studies anew. As a Hung Fa Yi disciple Sifu Ryan feels honored to study this in-depth system and looks forward to a life time of learning.
In 2001 Sifu Ryan started extensive training within White Tiger/Green Dragon Association to expand his knowledge in all ranges of self defense/combat.
In November 2005 Sifu Ryan became a full-time martial art instructor and ready to share his knowledge over the past 14 years.
In July 06 Sifu Ryan's top student Daniel Duran won the 2006 Wing Chun Grand Championship held in Plano, TX at the Tai Chi Legacy. This competition consisted of empty hand forms, wooden dummy form, chi sao, (close-range bridge hand) and full contact sparring with kicking, striking, trapping, throws and takedowns.
In December 2007 Sifu Ryan became certified within the Meng's Green Dragon White Tiger Association. This certification covered Technical understanding in all ranges of combat, teaching methods,history, philosophy, etc.
In March 2008 Sifu Ryan also became licensed to teach the national known Kid Escape Anti-Abduction course. That was created and founded by National known John Hall. Kid Escape has been taught to over 60,000 kids around the U.S. Sifu Ryan is also going to a lot of area Houston schools to teach this very important program to kids. He also hosts Kid Escape seminars in Houston at his school on a regular basis.
He currently travels on a regular basis to Ohio, California, Arizona and New York to support the growing Meng's Martial Arts and Hung Fa Yi family and cultivate his personal skills and knowledge. In addition, Sifu Ryan flies Master Meng down for private instruction on a regular basis to Houston, TX. Sifu Ryan is happily married and has a wonderful young son and a beautiful baby girl.

Daniel Duran is currently an instructor at Meng's Martial Arts of Houston under the guidance of Sifu Brad Ryan and Master Benny Meng, curator of the Ving Tsun Museum and founder of Meng's Martial Arts.
Senior Black Sash Leadership Club Member and is a 1st degree black sash instructor.
Actively participates in many intensive instructors training workshops over the last 6 years and studies exclusively through direct private instruction under Sifu Ryan and Master Meng. Daniel was recognized by Meng's Martial Arts of Houston as the 2005 Martial Artist of the Year for his dedicated hard work and commitment to excellence in the martial arts.

Daniel began his journey in the martial arts in early 2003 when crossing paths with Sifu Ryan. Sifu Ryan, having the very real need to have committed training partners to cultivate and further his own studies and training, approached Mr. Duran with the opportunity to train privately. After 5 months Daniel had the very good fortune to meet and begin direct personal training under Master Benny Meng. At this time Mr. Duran had begun to realize the values and wisdoms contained within the experience of martial arts training.
2 years later Daniel competed at the 2005 Taiji Legacy/Legends of Kung Fu International Martial Arts Championships in his first martial arts competition and came home with 2 gold medals and 1 silver.
Taiji Legacy Wing Chun Grand Champion. In 2006 Daniel competed again and came home with the Taiji Legacy Grand Championship, including a 3rd place finish in the San Shou full contact fighting event.
During the spring of 2007 Daniel decided to focus on developing his teaching skills and abilities. This began by starting a kids kung fu program at Houston Gateway Academy where he taught 9-12 year old boys and girls Shaolin kung fu and how to develop life skills.
Texas Rage in the Cage Debut. In February 2009 Mr. Duran made his cage fighting debut in Texas Rage in the Cage I with a victory TKO in the 3rd round.

International San Shou Champion. On July 19, 2009 at the Legends of Kung Fu International Martial Arts Championships Daniel took 1st place and won the gold in his weight class to become King of San Shou 2009.
Mr Duran continues to train and prepare for competition in San Shou, NHB and cage fighting events throughout the year and strives to represent Meng's Martial Arts in truth and with honor.
In Daniel's personal life he is a dedicated husband to Tanya Hodge of 14 years and father of four beautiful children. He currently works as a sales executive for one of Houston's leading IT consulting firms. Mr. Duran also has a 15 year deep study of the meditative process of Bhakti Yoga, which coincides with the philosophy of Chan Buddhism, one of the three treasures of Shaolin. This was one of the key elements that attracted Daniel to the study of martial arts under Sifu Ryan and Master Benny Meng. Mr. Duran aspires and strives to help anyone and everyone develop their full potentials in life through the dedicated practice and study of martial arts.
